EBI successfully produced electricity from biogas in two villages in Bangladesh. Building upon what we learned from this experience, we are now organizing a larger experiment to take place in 2011 that will establish a robust and economically sustainable model which we can then bring to scale.

The villages of Dokkhin Kustchia and Icchidiggi, both located outside of Dhaka, were electrified for eight hours a day over the course of the six months experiment. The image to the left is of a pharmacy in Ichidiggi that was illuminated by a bulb from EBI.
